The original work of Hokusai, sometimes referred to simply as The Great Wave, was painted in the first half of the 19th century using the technique of a woodcut! In order to produce it, the Japanese artist used a smooth plank made of hard wood. From Trefl’s perspective, this is a perfect opportunity for you to create your own Great Wave using pieces made of such a fine material as wood.

How do I choose the right piece count?

Under 300 pieces is a single sitting. 500 is an evening. 1000 is a weekend on the dining table. 2000 and up takes days and rewards sorting before you start.

Difficulty is carried by piece count rather than by age, so a confident younger builder will often beat the age on the box.

What if a piece is missing?

Contact our customer service team with the item number printed on the side of the box and we will go through the options with you. Replacement pieces are not available for every title, so we will tell you honestly what we can do rather than promise a piece that does not exist.

Can I frame the finished puzzle?

Yes, and plenty of people do. The board is thick enough to hold together once glued, and the anti-reflection coating means it still reads well behind glass.
